Drive Up Self Storage Units Fri, 16 Aug 2019 11:07:58 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Decluttering – the Sensible Way Tue, 22 Jan 2019 14:27:25 +0000 Householder-storage - decluttering can help to improve your lifestyle  – Marie Kondo is causing quite a stir. Fort Locks Self Storage wholeheartedly agrees with de-cluttering and a clean, tidy living environment. And of course we’re delighted that Charities are benefitting in the big January clear out! We’re not purists though and feel that Marie Kondo is a bit obsessive about clearing out. Be careful that you don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater – there are things you should keep – remember, if you chuck stuff out or give it to charity, you can never get it back again. Many people use self storage to help them de-clutter at home, or give themselves extra space to sort their things. To help you de-clutter in a useful, moderate way, we cover the three main categories of ‘stuff’ here

Easington Sports secure storage sponsorship deal Fri, 04 Jan 2019 12:26:14 +0000 Fort Locks Self Storage Banbury Sponsorship

LtoR: Richard Meadows, Annie Poole, Nick Poole

Easington Sports are delighted to announce a new partnership agreement with Banbury based Fort Locks Self Storage of Lower Cherwell Street. The deal will mean that ESFC now have a fully refurbished container on site for storage of youth team equipment for its 22 teams. Sports suffered a real set back in the summer when the purchase of a container failed to materialise. The club paid for the ownership and delivery of a container similar to the one in the picture but after several weeks it became clear the club were victims of crime and a fake container and Haulage company. Chairman Richard Meadows contacted Director Nick Poole of Fort Locks for help and he was only too happy to support our community club.

Chairman Richard Meadows commented “Fort Locks Self Storage has been incredibly supportive right from the beginning after I initially made contact with the company. Fort Locks were not only able to supply a container from a reputable company on our behalf, but they were also able to make a number of enquires to track down the bogus company via their national contacts in the business of container storage. Sadly, we are unlikely to get our money back, however, thanks to the help of Fort Locks Self Storage we now have our container in place and in a perfect location for the storage of football equipment for youth team matches”.

Fort Locks’ help did not stop there for ESFC and once the container arrived on site, they prepared the inside of the container, ventilating and insulating it to prevent the build-up of condensation. The interior surfaces were painted to prevent rust and damage allowing Sports to move equipment straight into the container once finished.

Nick Poole said “We have been delighted to help one of Banbury’s most important youth sports clubs. Sourcing a good quality container and the preparation of a clean, dry storage space requires some technical know-how and we were keen to share our knowledge and resources with ESFC as a small contribution to the community; it has been a pleasure working with the club on this.”

Easington Sports would like to thank Fort Locks Storage for all their help and expertise over the last few months and hope this partnership agreement can stretch long into the future as the club continues to expand and grow.

With a full range of sizes available, Fort Locks Self Storage have a storage unit for all of your requirements. So if you need a bit more space at home or in the office, please do get in contact to hear about their fantastic prices and current offers – right now, they are doing an amazing special offer…. 50% off your first three months’ storage! Extra storage for Christmas stock…and dare we mention the dreaded ‘B’ Word? Wed, 14 Nov 2018 14:41:50 +0000 At the moment we have some fantastic deals on storage which could well be just the thing if you are a local Banbury business and need some temporary storage between now and Christmas…or even, if you have had to order additional stock to safeguard against shortages in the aftermath of Brexit (there, I said it!). For many retailers, for example, Christmas can account for a large part of their annual turnover and to be sure of not running out of stock, order double or triple quantities….but then run into to the problem of where to put it.

3 months free storage

Fort Locks Self Storage in Banbury

Fort Locks Self Storage is a handy ‘depot’, close to Banbury town centre, with flexible storage terms  – minimum- storage period is only 7 days – and, depending on availability, most storage units come with a generous move-in offer. Typically you will pay for the first 4 weeks storage but then receive up to 6 weeks free storage, or in another deal currently being advertised, you can pay for 3 months and get 3 months free storage – in effect, 6 months at half price! You will only ever pay for the days storage you actually use, so you are not tied into a long term contract, and if you decide to move out before the end of the initial period, you get a refund for unused storage which you have paid for. We’ve  also heard a lot about businesses needing additional space for stockpiling ahead of Brexit day – well we can of course help with that too!

How Fort Locks Can Save You Money Thu, 28 Jun 2018 09:11:25 +0000 It doesn’t matter if you’re a business owner or a private individual, sometimes money is tight and then we’re all looking to make extra savings or find a way to earn additional income. So here’s one idea that might help you save money*.

Create extra space in your home… and then rent it out!

Renting out a spare room in your home doesn’t just earn you extra income. You can actually do so tax-free! The Rent a Room Scheme lets you earn up to a threshold of £7,500 per year tax-free from letting out furnished accommodation in your home. This is halved if you share the income with your partner or someone else. You can let out as much of your home as you want.

So why not clear out that spare room and offer it for rent? You can generate additional cash by selling items you no longer need, or you can give them away. Anything you want to keep you can store with us, safe in the knowledge that we’ll give it room for as long as you need us to.

Storing anything with us is easy, and we’re very straightforward and friendly to deal with. You rent as much space as you need (we have 5 sizes, so there’s sure to be something which suits your requirements) and you can keep it for as little as 7 days or for as long as you need…. And we have special offers and deals to help you save even more.

Leaving your belongings with us is equally easy. Drive up, unlock your unit and fill it with anything that doesn’t fit into your home. And should you need it in between times, then it’s good to know that you can have access to your storage unit 24/7.

If you’re thinking of letting a room in your home and need to find a temporary home for some of your belongings, then why not come and talk to us? We’re Fort Locks. We’re right in the centre of Banbury. And we’re ready and happy to help.

*Whilst we are happy to give you helpful money saving tips, if you are unsure about tax or financial issues, please take the advice of a professional financial advisor, accountant or other professional. Fort Locks Self Storage Ltd and its employees are not responsible for your financial decisions, which are your sole responsibility.

Storage Tips for Businessess: Now What to Do with It? Thu, 21 Jun 2018 07:42:36 +0000 Is there such a thing as “legitimate” clutter? We think so. You can be excellent a tidying up, at recycling items you don’t need, and at giving everything its own space – and still find yourself at odds with boxes and loose items.

And not just at home.

Many business owners face the same problem. Their workspaces may be meticulously organised, but they’ll struggle to find room for Christmas decorations, exhibition stands, catalogues, stationery, tools, marketing flyers or packaging materials. Many such items are cheaper when bought in bulk, but that only makes your storage woes much worse.

In the long run, when there’s no chance of moving to a bigger office or shopfront, but also no room for an extra desk or a wider range of stock, storage troubles may even stop you from growing your business.

Well… step this way, ladies and gentlemen. We’ve been helping business owners with their storage troubles for years.

Our storage spaces come in a variety of sizes, so you can choose as much or as little extra storage as you need.

We’re in the centre of Banbury, easily accessible, and open for customers 24/7 – so anything you store with us is available to you when you need it. Whether that’s an extra Christmas tree and box of lights, that set of screwdrivers you thought you’d never need, or another box of flyers since your business is booming.

Storing items with us is as easy as driving up to your storage unit and unlocking the door. And our rates are very competitive.

So, wave clutter goodbye, stop looking around for larger premises and get the most use out of the premises you already have and love. With a little help from Fort Locks!

At the moment we have some humdinger dazzling deals – for example, you can get up to 3 months free storage which could save you over £900! You can start storing for as little as £7.16 per week, so why not get in touch with us now on 01295 277 477…

Storage Tips: How to Store your Belongings Safely Thu, 14 Jun 2018 14:05:20 +0000 Putting some of your belongings into storage sounds like a straightforward thing to do. You rent a space, box up your things, and stack them into the unit. Then you lock the door and walk away.

Mostly. Our storage units are dry and ventilated. They’re level and secure. And we have room for small and large loads alike. But there are a few storage tips you might like to follow to make sure all your belongings survive in tip-top shape however long you’re storing them with us.

Choose the right size storage unit

You don’t need to rent enough space to fit a mansion if you only want to store the contents of your spare bedroom while you redecorate. Equally, you don’t want to cram your unit so full that you cannot get to items stored at the back without unloading the whole unit. If you don’t know how much space you might need, don’t be afraid to ask us. Better still, pop in for a viewing which is one of the best ways to gauge the space you’re likely to need. We’ve seen loads in all shapes and sizes and are happy to help you make the right choice.

Choose your transport

At Fort Locks, our units have drive-up access. That means you don’t have to carry your items too far to get them safely stowed. We’re also situated in the centre of Banbury, so making several trips with small car loads, or hiring a van for a few hours won’t take too much of your time or money. If you’re moving to a new home, or moving long distance, then we recommend you pick a larger vehicle that can bring all your items in one trip.

Packing your items

We recommend that you take large items apart – beds use up much less space in your storage unit if they are disassembled – but don’t forget to collect all screws, nuts, and bolts and bag them safely. Label the bag, too, or you may struggle to put your furniture back together when you bring it out of storage.

It is best to box items, to make transport and storage easier. Use good quality boxes with double corrugated cardboard, and use smaller boxes for heavy items (e.g. books) or they will be too heavy to carry easily. You should also distribute all your heavy items between the boxes. Pad all spaces between items with old newspapers, bubble wrap, socks or towels. We can help out, if you are struggling to find enough boxes and packaging material.

Carefully wrap all fragile items. Box them and pad around them to avoid movement. Make sure to label all boxes to remind yourself that the content is fragile.

Storing your items

Place the biggest items at the back of your unit. If you’re storing furniture, maximise your storage space by storing boxes in your wardrobes, and fill the drawers of chests of drawers. Don’t place heavy boxes on top of lighter or fragile items and make sure everything is clearly labelled.  Lidded, plastic storage boxes, the see-through kind, make great storage containers for clothes and other items you may need. If you are storing clothes and soft furnishings for a very long time, you might want to consider vacuum packing to avoid dampness and mildew getting into material. (Our storage units are dry, insulated and  ventilated, but most clothes, soft furnishings and all air contains some moisture, especially in the UK, so be aware of this, as you bring it into the storage unit. Although not strictly necessary, you could occasionally open your storage unit to give it a proper airing.)

Stack all your items along the walls of your storage unit and leave a walkway down the middle, so you can reach everything you’ve stored.

As always, if you’re not sure please ask. We are here to help, whether it’s before or while you store your items at Fort Locks.

Economies of Scale Fri, 08 Jun 2018 09:11:49 +0000 For many businesses, bulk buying is a cost-effective way to obtain supplies, but then we’re faced with storing a large quantity of stock. Ordering in volume can bring significant savings, whether it is resale product or internal supplies. Stationery, printer paper, toilet rolls and paper towels, packing materials, bottled water, and even marketing materials like flyers, catalogues and posters are all much cheaper when bought in bulk… but they all take up valuable space in offices and shops. Space that could be more profitably employed to house a new employee or perhaps free up a meeting room.

So, what are we to do, caught between economies of space and economies of scale?

At Fort Locks, we have one word for you: Storage. Or, to be precise, two: self storage. Or even four: Making space for you. Which, as our company strapline, pretty much wraps it up.

We’ve been helping business owners make the most of economies of scale by offering flexibility when it comes to space.

Our storage units don’t just hold furniture for people who are in the process of moving. We can store anything from your fantastic Christmas ornaments that take up a corner of your office for the rest of the year, to reams of paper and boxes of envelopes. We store catalogues and flyers, exhibition stands and banners, even napkins, paper towels, and toilet rolls! Anything you can bring in a van and place in a storage unit, really.

And with 24/7 drive-up access and a location in the centre of Banbury, you’re only a step away from that box of envelopes, string of fairy lights, or exhibition banner.

We offer storage units in a variety of sizes, and we’re equally flexible when it comes to rental periods. You choose how much storage you need and you choose how long you need it for, as little as 7 days or for as long as you want. And with discounts for longer-term rentals, we offer economies of scale as well!

Thinking of a Loft Conversion? Thu, 31 May 2018 09:09:50 +0000 When you need more living space, but don’t want to move, many homeowners start to think about a loft conversion. There’s definite merit to an extra bedroom, maybe with en-suite bathroom, a den or playroom, or even a dedicated study space.

But then reality hits. And not the one that can be solved by commissioning a builder and having plans drawn up. For many homeowners, their loft or any attic space is a prime storage area for anything from old toys and clothes the children have outgrown to Christmas decorations, suitcases, and even unused furniture.

Converting the loft into a living space means having to find a new place for all these items…. and sometimes that seems just too much of a challenge.

That’s where we at Fort Locks can help you out. We have room for all your unused clothes, rarely used items, old record and postcard collections, and even the Christmas decorations.

Rent a storage unit while you are having a new living space added to your home. Move your items back when you’ve allocated a new space for them, or simply leave them with us until your children have grown up and are shopping for baby clothes, books and toys themselves.

Our rental terms are as flexible as our storage spaces. You can drive right up to your unit twenty-four hours, seven days a week, so even if you find you need an item, it won’t be a problem to retrieve it. We have boxes and bubble wrap on hand should you need it, and we’re always ready to help out or answer any questions.

Thinking of a loft conversion?

At the moment we have some humdinger dazzling deals  – for example, you can get up to 3 months free storage which could save you over £900! You can start storing for as little as £7.16 per week, so why not get in touch with us about storing the existing contents of your loft right now on 01295 277 477…

Need to Put Your Best Foot Forward? We Can Help. Thu, 24 May 2018 09:19:11 +0000 If you’re thinking of moving home this year, then now is the time to get your home ready. The best way to sell a home, or so the experts tell us, is by creating an opportunity for potential buyers to see themselves in your space. So, making sure you put your best foot forward will benefit you in the long run, with high-value offers and a quicker sale. Preparing your home for sale doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on a makeover. In many cases, decluttering your living space and arranging your furnishings to best advantage will make an immediate difference to your home’s appeal to potential buyers.

We all surround ourselves with items that cheer and comfort us, that remind us of happy times and events, or that showcase our achievements. These pieces have meaning for us, but not necessarily any stranger walking through the door. So when you come to sell your home, less is definitely more where interior décor is concerned.

  • Reducing the number of items displayed on shelves and sideboards is a good start to make your home more saleable.
  • Next, do an audit on cushions, throws, and blankets and remove any excess.
  • If your bookshelves are overflowing, store some of your books away.
  • Do the same for small items of furniture like coffee tables and beanbags.
  • Make sure bedside tables are clear and unused clothes aren’t stacked on top of chests of drawers.
  • Clear your kitchen worktops, relocating tools and ingredients you use on a regular basis into a nearby cupboard and – if you’re struggling for space – move some of your rarely used pots, pans and china into packing crates. Not only does this make your kitchen look super-spacious and efficient, it also gets you a head start on the packing come moving day.

Remember, the quickest way to selling a home is to present a welcoming space that potential buyers can see themselves moving into. Give them room to imagine!

And what about all the books and coffee tables, china and excess cushions you’ve so diligently cleared and packed away? Well, that’s where we can help. At Fort Locks, we offer storage space to suit all kinds of purposes. We’re happy, when you’re happy. Our smallest storage space is ideal for holding your possessions while you’re getting ready to put your home on the market. 32 square feet of storage is enough room for 2-3 car or van loads…. ideal to store books, china, clothes, toys and furniture pieces you don’t need for a little while.

The best thing about it? If you find that you do need that cake stand or you’ve packed a book you just can’t live without, you can retrieve it at any time. Fort Locks is situated in the centre of Banbury and our storage facility offers 24/7 access. So while your items may be out of sight while you make sure your property puts its best foot forward, they’re certainly not out of reach.

At the moment we have some humdinger dazzling deals – for example, you can get up to 3 months free storage which could save you over £900! You can start storing for as little as £7.16 per week, so why not get in touch with us now on 01295 277 477.

Decluttering Rocks at Fort Locks! Thu, 17 May 2018 15:03:13 +0000 Wardrobe audits are all the rage at this time of year when we’re decluttering our homes ready for the summer. You know how that goes, right? Sort out everything you haven’t worn in six months and put it to one side. Make a date with yourself six months down the line. Anything still in that pile is something you don’t really wear, so you can sell it or give it away in good conscience.

A home audit can work in the same way. Create breathing room in your home by removing ornaments, cushions, rugs, throws, and blankets, books and knickknacks you’ve outgrown. Some will invariably be given away, but there may be others you’ll want to keep hold of. To pass to your children, or to bring them back in a few months when the seasons change.

That’s where self storage comes in. You can store all the items you don’t want in your home, but don’t want to get rid of. Just box them up, label them and bring them to your storage unit at Fort Locks Self Storage.

If you live in Banbury, you won’t have far to go. And if you’re from outside Banbury you’ll find us easily enough in Lower Cherwell Street, just near Morrisons. (Look out for Bertie the Blimp, who marks the spot!) We offer storage units from a small 32 square feet – big enough for 2 or 3  car / van loads – to a whopping 160 square feet, which is big enough to store the contents of a 7.5 tonne lorry, or a 3/4 Bedroom House.

Storing any items you don’t need for a while with us doesn’t mean you have to wave them goodbye for a long time. Our storage units are accessible 24/7, so if you find you need an item you put into storage, you won’t have to jump through hoops to retrieve it. Simply drive up, unlock your storage unit and take it away!

So why not give your home a spring clean and give yourself some breathing room, safe in the knowledge that we can make space for any items you don’t need for a while.

Paint it Purple Thu, 10 May 2018 14:22:02 +0000 It’s no longer a secret. The colour of the year 2018 is a gorgeous, deep, vibrant purple called Ultra Violet. It’s a wonderful accent colour, rich and luxurious, and it will undoubtedly spawn a trend of purple designs, decors and accessories in all of the myriad of shades that purple is capable of.

Purple is a great colour to use in your home. It’s a mix of red and blue, so can bring warm and welcoming or cool and calm tones to every room that needs a change of mood. Pale lilac and amethyst grey make for a most Zen vibe and are a great bedroom colour. Teamed with a deep purple bedspread, purple curtains, or big accent cushions you can build yourself a place to hide from the world.

Purple – this time in its ultra violet or royal purple incarnation, can turn a simple bathroom into a space to spend time and luxuriate. It forms a great foil for white sanitary ware and only needs a few gold or vintage brass accessories to make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time for a much-needed treat.

Dining rooms don’t need to feel neglected. A deep purple accent wall – making use of the either the deep blue or the deeper red purples – will warm and lift the space immediately. And all of the deep purples play well with modern dining room furniture, whether you prefer solid wood or painted finishes.

Which leaves… the hallway. One of the trickiest spaces in your home to decorate, even your hallway will bring a smile to your face if you give it a makeover with this year’s hottest colour. Paint the far wall in a long, narrow hallway a deep purple to make the space seem squarer. Use a reddish purple to give a warm, welcoming feel, or add just a hint of pale purple to your walls to brighten and lighten a small, dark hallway.

Purple with its myriad of shades is a true Jack-of-all-trades. And a legal mood-altering colour to boot.

If all this has made you reach for your paintbrush, only to make you stop and wonder where to store all your belongings while you give your home a new look, then fear not. We have storage units to fit whatever you want to bring us, and we’ll store it for as short or as long a time as you need us to.

Please call and ask us for a quote, or stop by and let us show you around.

There’s really no reason to let anything stand in the way of your home’s next makeover.

What’s Stopping Your Next Home Improvement Project? Thu, 03 May 2018 15:17:46 +0000 Whether you love or loathe home improvement projects, all but the simplest repair jobs start with clearing out the space to be redone and distributing its contents all over the rest of your home.

Homeowners report that the resulting mess and clutter is one of the biggest reasons for abandoning or avoiding big DIY jobs. Loft conversions, re-plastering, remodelling, adding another bathroom or even an extension… all of these require new temporary homes for furniture and contents.  And sometimes, there simply isn’t enough space!

That’s where we come in. Improving your home doesn’t mean you have to stumble over boxes or furniture for weeks at a time. Not if you rent a storage unit from us for a few weeks and use it to keep your belongings safely out of the way of dust, plaster and paint.

Packing your belongings for storage isn’t any more complicated than boxing up the contents of your wardrobes, chests and shelves, so they can be stored in the shed or garage. You can get good quality boxes and bubble wrap from us or pick up spare cardboard at your local supermarket. Just make sure it’s sturdy enough to take your belongings safely.

Bringing your items to us and storing them in one of our units doesn’t need to be a huge production either. We’re in the centre of Banbury and you can drive right up to your unit and unload your possessions.

And if you suddenly need something you’ve stored with us? That’s definitely not an issue. You have the key to your storage unit and you can access it twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

We offer flexible storage, both in terms of space and rental time. You want your home improvement project completed as quickly as possible, but if it takes a little while longer, you won’t find your belongings on the street! Whether you need to store bedroom furniture for two weeks or the contents of your loft for three months, we can help.

Now, wouldn’t that make your DIY project much less daunting?

A little BID of an update Sat, 19 Aug 2017 11:41:27 +0000

Banbury nursery rhyme

Some of you may know that Nick Poole, Director at Fort Locks Self Storage, is also Chair of the Banbury Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has been revitalised under his leadership and through the work of Yasmin Kaduji, our Co-ordinator. It’s one way which Fort Locks tries to put something back into the town. In particular, Nick has been working hard with the BID – a Business Improvement District – (for more information go to ), to encourage local businesses to VOTE YES when we get to the ballot in October. The BID  is a fantastic opportunity to improve the Town for visitors and businesses, bringing over £1m investment into the town centre BID-Banbury-Boundary-mapover the next 5 years…  The BID will be launching a fully documented Business Plan full of proposals for Banbury at the Town Hall on September 6th  – save the date  – after which, about 530 businesses in the town centre will receive their ballot papers (mid-October), allowing them 4 weeks to register their postal vote.

But all businesses in and around Banbury can support the BID and while Fort Locks Self Storage itself is located outside the BID area, we will be making a voluntary contribution to show our commitment to the BID. We urge you to do the same! If you are a business anywhere in the Banbury area, you have an interest in a successful, thriving town, so come along on 6th September to learn all about this amazing opportunity and how you can support it!

Can you adam and eve it? Sat, 20 Aug 2016 10:25:13 +0000 Last year George Osborne snuck in an increase to insurance premium tax, from 6% to 9.5%. This year, shortly before his demise as a result of Brexit, he squeezed in another 0.5% increase, taking IPT to 10%. For a small business such as ours, making these adjustments creates a lot of administration. So we are very cross with Mr Osborne; the least he could have done is to have simply effected the tax change in one go. But I guess that would have been too obvious. You can be cross with Mr Osborne too, if you like, as now you are paying a tiddly fraction more tax.

So the message to all our customers: Please can you be aware if you pay IPT,  that this will go up by half a percent (o.5%) from 1st October 2016. So let’s say your Insurance for the month is £4.60, the IPT would have been 44p it will now be 46p, an increase of 2p. Or, for example, if your insurance is £25/month, IPT would have been £2.37, it will now be £2.50, an increase of 13p. It seems hardly worth the breath to mention it, but we felt we should let you know. We’ll adjust your account and collect the right amount on the right day as usual, so you don’t need to do anything. In the meantime, please be assured that your storage price is unaffected.

Thanks George, hopefully we’ll get more sense from Philip.

Buy with confidence! Tue, 09 Aug 2016 09:14:40 +0000 Fort Locks Self Storage joins Trading Standards’ push for fairness and quality!

Fort Locks Self Storage in Banbury approved by Trading Standards

Fort Locks Self Storage in Banbury is in the Buy With Confidence Scheme

We’re immensely proud, but I’ll try to keep the back story short and sweet. As members of the Self Storage Association UK, we use the industry best practice Licence Agreement. As part of an major overhaul to make the Licence Agreement more readable, presentable and relevant, SSAUK recently got this ratified by Trading Standards. But, while we were keen to adopt the new Licence Agreement at Fort Locks Self Storage,  we needed to make some changes to fit our local business requirements.

That’s when we approached Oxfordshire Trading Standards and asked them if we could become part of the Buy With Confidence scheme. Up to that point, the scheme did not have a category for Self Storage, but Trading Standards were still delighted to help and agreed to put us through a thorough audit. They checked that all our legal terms were fair and equable for the customer, made sure our marketing material and customer correspondence was honest and professional and finally they conducted a random survey of some of our customers to check our service levels. We’re delighted to say that they had no issues – we came through with glowing colours (Rio Gold, perhaps?) and they were able to formally enrol us in the Buy With Confidence scheme earlier this year.

As one of the first self storage businesses in the country to achieve this we are justifiably proud – and, best of all, it gives you the reassurance that, at Fort Locks Self Storage, you’ll receive an honest and professional service.

Fort Locks takes the biscuit! Tue, 10 Nov 2015 15:22:50 +0000 Biscuits for Banbury Storage Team

What a great way to say thank you for our storage service!

How simply fantastic! The team at Fort Locks Self Storage were especially touched when Joyce, a recent customer, gave us a lovely gift box of biscuits to say thank you and farewell, as she vacated her Storage Unit. Beautifully wrapped and with a very lovely card, the gift of delicious biscuits was hugely appreciated. The team here does its very best to please our customers, and as a result Fort Locks Self Storage has an excellent reputation and gets many compliments, testimonials and referrals from happy customers – but this is the first time that a customer has shown their appreciation with a gift. We were blown away – Thank you, Joyce!

Joyce says thanks to Fort Locks for great Storage service in Banbury

Thank you Joyce!

Insurance Premium Tax increase Fri, 06 Nov 2015 11:06:30 +0000 Boring but important news for all our storage customers. George Osborne lit up our lives in the March 2015 budget by quietly introducing (no-one noticed, so he’s bound to do it again!) an increase to Insurance Premium Tax. IPT goes from 6% to 9.5% from 1st November 2015 – a whopping 58% rise! But actually the news is not so bad – most of our customers have seen an increase to their monthly insurance bill of only 18p – 60p. It’s important to remember that Fort Locks Self Storage has not increased storage rental fees or insurance rates – it’s just the tax on the insurance element – so blame George!

Meanwhile, despite George’s best efforts, business is booming at Fort Locks – and we have some terrific offers and discounts leading up to Christmas, so do pop in or give us a call for a quote.

New extended Office hours for Fort Locks Self Storage Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:01:49 +0000 Fort Locks Self Storage We provide 24 hour access for all our customers. As a customer with a storage unit at Fort Locks Self Storage, you can come and go 24/7. We provide free access – we don’t charge, unlike many other storage companies who may charge you each time you access your goods.

Now, for the convenience of all our customers and about-to-be customers (especially those that are battling with moving house from far flung corners and only just make it to Banbury in time!) we have extended our office opening hours: where we used to be open 9.00am -1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm Monday to to Saturday, the new hours mean that the office is open an EXTRA 2.5 hours per day!

Our New Office Hours:  8.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Saturday.

This is fantastic news for all those people who want to pop in and see us early in the morning before work, or at lunch time because this is the only time you can get out of your workplace. You might be popping in to make a payment,  view a storage unit or if you need to collect something from your own storage unit. Or because we’re so friendly, you might just want a quick cuppa and a chat. 🙂 And of course for the aforesaid movers who are battling with the M6 or M40 and trying to get here before we shut up shop on a Saturday afternoon, you now have a whole extra hour to play with. You could even stop at the services for a quick sandwich! And Bertie the Blimp, our GRRRRRReat big self storage balloon, now comes out to catch the morning and evening rush hours – give him wave next time you’re passing!
